Business Mentorship Institute Of Saskatchewan Inc. (BMI)

My Mentor

What expertise would my mentor have?
All BMI mentors have succeeded in some way and have at least 5 years of relevant business experience.

Do I get to choose my own mentor?
Local coordinators make selections from lists of suitable candidates that BMI has drawn up based on location, background and expertise. Mentorship pairings are arranged by a local coordinator, but ultimately it is up to each participant to agree to work with the partner chosen for them.

How involved will my mentor become?
Your mentor's degree of involvement depends on the agreement you set up after you become acquainted. But remember, a mentor is a guide, not an employee or a director.

Would my mentor ever be competing with me?
Local coordinators work to ensure that matched pairs are not direct competitors. In addition, each participant is an advisor - not an employee or boss. But for peace of mind, BMI requires that all parties sign a confidentiality and non-competition agreement.

What would BMI's role be in this?
BMI provides program structure and training and support for the community development staff who are coordinating mentorship initiatives across province Saskatchewan. This includes helping to find the right mentor for you.
