Who qualifies as a protégé?
Any entrepreneur who has been in business for at least 6 months can join.
How much does this cost?
It is up to the community organization hosting your program. Each community has the option to charge a nominal administration fee.
How long will this relationship (program) last?
The amount of time you spend working with your mentor is up to the two of you. To get the most out of the program most matches last at least 6 months. Some last as long as 5 years. This is not a lifetime commitment. When the protégé has learned as much as they can from the mentor, it is time for the relationship to close.
How many hours a month will I spend with my mentor?
BMI recommends at least two hours of face to face meeting every month, plus email and phone communication in between. The upper limits of time contributions are determined by the participants.
What do I need to do to sign up?
Joining is easy. See our Initiatives page, or contact your local business or economic development agency, (like a Chamber of Commerce or REDA (Regional Economic Development Authority). They will provide a registration form and talk to you a little about what you are looking to get out of the opportunity to have a business mentor.
